September 2025: Scout Incentives, Policy and Parameters Updates

September 2025: Scout Incentives, Policy and Parameters Updates

Attention, Curators!

We’re back with a new round of updates to the Kleros Scout Registries. Following August’s big overhaul, September brings more refinements across incentives, policies, and curation court mechanics. These changes are aimed at keeping submissions consistent, juror questions crystal-clear, and incentives aligned with quality contributions.

Starting this month, ATQ (Address Tag Registry) updates will be included alongside the three Scout Registries (Address Tags, Tokens, and CDN).

1. Address Tag Registry (ATR) Updates

Incentives Update: tightening scope

To keep rewards focused on useful metadata, ERC20, ERC721, and EIP-1167 contract submissions are no longer eligible for incentives in the ATR.

Submissions are still valid (and deposits refundable if accepted), but they are not eligible to receive PNK rewards.

Policy Update: naming consistency for ERC20s

To reduce confusion and ensure clear labelling, all ERC20 submissions must include the word “token” at least in the Public Note field.

Read the Policy Preview carefully before making submissions.

2. All Scout Registries: Reintroducing Ethereum

Incentives: the comeback

Ethereum Mainnet is officially back among the eligible chains. That means submissions on Ethereum Mainnet will once again qualify for rewards, alongside the other supported chains.

Find a recap at the end of the article.

3. Curation Court: Better wording for removal requests questions

We’re improving clarity in the questions made for jurors on removal requests.

Old wording:Does the tag comply with the required criteria?

Option A:"Yes, Remove It | Option B:"No, Don’t Remove It

New wording:Does the tag comply with the required criteria?"

Option A:"No, Remove It" | Option B:"Yes, Keep it

This makes the intent much clearer, reducing confusion during deliberations.

4. Address Tag Queries (ATQ) Updates

Incentives: from “first 10” to pooled rewards

We’re replacing the “first 10 submissions” rule with a pooled reward system for both submissions and removals.

Submission Rewards
Pool: 60,000 PNK
Max cap: 3,000 PNK per successful submission
Formula:

reward_per_submission = reward_pool / successful_submissions

Removal Rewards
Pool: 6,600 PNK
Max cap: 500 PNK per successful removal
Formula:

reward_per_removal = reward_pool / successful_removals

This makes rewards more evenly distributed and scales with participation.

ATQ Policy: new version!

The ATQ policy has been updated to reduce ambiguity and reflect real-world submission practices:

  • Clearer removal request terms
  • Subgraph availability requirement clarified
  • Terminology: “bug” vs. “issue” explicitly defined
  • New pagination rules for consistency
  • Updated examples for better guidance
  • Chain ID must be submitted as decimal
  • Explicit allowance for:
    • Contracts tied to multiple projects (must note all in Public Note)
    • Contracts with no project (token name can serve as project)
    • User Interface / Website Link field may be left empty

Note: this is just a quick recap, please always use the published policy as a reference. Read the preview of the policy here.

5. Incentive Recap September 2025

Here’s how incentives are structured this month across registries and queries:

Address Tag Registry, Token Registry, CDN Registry Incentives

  • 100,000 PNK — Address Tag Registry
    • Submissions of ERC20, ERC721, and EIP-1167 are excluded from incentives (but still valid for inclusion).
    • Removal Requests: 7,000 PNK pool shared between successful removals.
  • 100,000 PNK — Token Registry
    • Solana Tokens require a minimum of 5000 holders
    • Removal Requests: 7,000 PNK pool shared between successful removals.
  • 100,000 PNK — CDN Registry
    • Removal Requests: 7,000 PNK pool shared between successful removals.

Successful Submission Reward Calculation Formula:

reward per submission = reward_pool * ((1 / (2 * total_submissions)) + (txns_with_contract / (2 * total_txns_with_all_contracts)))

Maximum Reward per successful compliant submission: 500 PNK

Successful Removal Reward Calculation Formula

reward_per_removal = reward_pool / total_removals

Maximum Reward per successful removal: 500 PNK

Eligible Chains: Ethereum Mainnet, Avalanche C-Chain, zkSync, Scroll, Gnosis, Celo, Base, Solana, Arbitrum One, OP Mainnet.

Addresses must not be tagged in any of the respective block explorers belonging to the Etherscan group (full list here).

Address Tag Queries (ATQ) Incentives

  • Submissions Reward Pool: 60,000 PNK
    • Maximum Reward per successful removal: 3000 PNK
  • Removals Reward Pool: 6,500 PNK
    • Maximum Reward per successful removal: 500 PNK

Formula for both Submissions and Removals Requests

reward = reward_pool / successful_requests

Eligible Chains: All.

TL;DR

Policy Changes

  • ATR Policy: ERC20s must include “token” in one field. Will take effect starting Monday, September 1st
  • ATQ Policy: clarified removal terms, terminology, chain ID format, subgraph availability, examples, and broader contract acceptance rules. Will take effect starting Friday, August 29th
  • Curation Court: juror question reworded for clarity (“No, Remove It” / “Yes, Keep It”). Will take effect starting Friday, August 29th

Incentive Changes

  • ATR Incentives: ERC20, ERC721, EIP-1167 contracts not eligible for rewards.
  • Ethereum Mainnet reinstated across all registries.
  • ATQ Incentives: switched to pooled rewards (60k PNK submissions, 6.5k removals).
